The Cause
Do you ever wonder where all those fab minis or flares your parents used
to wear went or where those curtains in you gran's that made you feel
dizzy when you look at them for too long went? The chances are they have
been thrown away & ended up in a landfill site. A crime if you ask us.
We don't want to sound like eco-friendly preaching hippy that live off
the land & hug trees, but hey man we need to start recycling.
Each year we throw away tons of stuff that could be turned into something
else. So why do we do it. Mainly apathy if you ask us or even arrogance.
Just because it isn't to our taste anymore doesn't mean it isn't to others
or just because its broke, doesn't mean it can't be fixed. Did you know
that if every one in the UK bought one piece of clothing made from recycled
fibre each year, this would save 371 gallons of water (that's whole lot
of H2O) & that 3% of rubbish from dustbins is made up of textiles?
The average a person keeps an item of clothing for is three years, after
that if it isn't recycled it is buried in a landfill site & let to
decay & produce methane gas. This is not cool!!!!
We believe that every one should be responsible for helping to save the
planet & that recycling should be labelled cool, hip, trendy or whatever
you want to call it, but it should be labelled NOW. What ever style, phase
or scene you're into, whether you're a Goth, punk, Boho chick or retro
throw back. Recycling should be one of the issues we all agree on.
Here at Hellish cheeky we are driven by the idea that we can recreate
items into one off individual pieces that not only are functional & look
fab but raise awareness to recycling & environmental issues that seem
to not be important in this clone alike big crazy cooperate world.
